Safety Checklists

OPTIMIZING PATIENT SAFETY IN COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY
Physician safety checklists developed by board-certified dermatologists

Patient safety is fundamental to the practice of cosmetic and laser dermatology. While cosmetic procedures are generally safe when performed by trained clinicians, complications and procedural errors can still occur. Standardized safety protocols can help improve preparedness, communication, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes in the clinical setting.

To support physicians, trainees, and clinical staff, the AACD has developed a collection of practical safety checklists and emergency management handouts for use during cosmetic and laser procedures. These materials are intended for healthcare professionals and clinical teams, with a focus on real-world implementation in dermatology practice.

AACD members may download and print these resources for use in clinic. Developed by board-certified dermatologists with expertise in cosmetic and laser dermatology, these handouts are designed to provide concise, evidence-informed guidance that can be readily incorporated into daily practice.

Because these materials contain clinical protocols and emergency management guidance intended for trained healthcare professionals, they are currently available only to AACD members.
